Since 2006, chef-owners Christophe and Michelle Poteaux have welcomed Alexandria for contemporary French cooking, seasonal ingredients and attentive hospitality.
Join us for steak frites, seasonal seafood, house-made desserts and our three-course prix fixe dinners available at $45 or $55. Pair your evening with thoughtfully chosen wines in our relaxed neighborhood brasserie.

Since 2006, Bastille has been a part of Alexandria's dining community, independently owned and operated by chef-owners Christophe and Michelle Poteaux.
Rooted in French culinary tradition, our kitchen brings together classic brasserie favorites, seasonal Mid-Atlantic ingredients, and desserts made in-house. Thoughtfully selected wines and attentive service complete the experience.
Twenty years later, our philosophy remains the same: serious about the food, relaxed about everything else.

Chefs Christophe & Michelle Poteaux
Since opening Bastille in 2006, Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux have built one of Alexandria’s longest-running independently owned French restaurants. Bastille has received numerous RAMMY nominations and recognition from Washingtonian, Northern Virginia Magazine, The Zebra and OpenTable.
Christophe’s cooking is rooted in his French heritage and classical training, bringing a modern perspective to traditional French dishes while highlighting seasonal Mid-Atlantic ingredients.
Michelle, a chef and pastry chef, focuses on Bastille’s desserts while also leading Maison Breizh and much of the creative work behind the scenes, including email marketing, social media and special projects.
Both chefs have cooked at the James Beard House in New York City.
In January 2015, Bastille moved to 606 N. Fayette Street where the restaurant was
reimagined and operates today.
Bastille Brasserie & Bar is located at 606 N. Fayette Street in Old Town Alexandria’s Parker-Gray neighborhood, two blocks from the Braddock Road Metro and five blocks from King Street.
Our restaurant includes two dining rooms, an expansive bar and café area, and a large courtyard patio.
