Bastille Brasserie & Bar is a chef-owned French restaurant and wine bar in Old Town Alexandria, serving contemporary French cuisine since 2006. Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux bring classic French cooking together with seasonal ingredients, thoughtful wines and warm, approachable hospitality.
Founded by Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux in 2006, Bastille is known for French classics, steak frites, seasonal seafood and duck, house-made desserts, prix fixe dining, a lively Bar-Café and a garden patio.
Join us for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, Happy Hour, seasonal prix fixe menus, wine dinners and private dining. We are two blocks from Braddock Road Metro Station and minutes from King Street.

Bastille Brasserie & Bar has been part of Alexandria’s dining community since 2006. Chef-owners Christophe and Michelle Poteaux created Bastille as a neighborhood French brasserie: serious about food and wine, but relaxed, welcoming and approachable.
Our menus combine classic French technique with seasonal Mid-Atlantic ingredients, from brasserie favorites and seasonal entrées to house-made desserts, carefully selected wines and cocktails.
Located at 606 N. Fayette Street in Old Town Alexandria, Bastille serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday, along with Happy Hour, wine dinners, special events and private dining.

Chefs Christophe & Michelle Poteaux
Since opening Bastille in 2006, Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux have built one of Alexandria’s longest-running independently owned French restaurants. Bastille has received numerous RAMMY nominations and recognition from Washingtonian, Northern Virginia Magazine, The Zebra and OpenTable.
Christophe’s cooking is rooted in his French heritage and classical training, bringing a modern perspective to traditional French dishes while highlighting seasonal Mid-Atlantic ingredients.
Michelle, a chef and pastry chef, focuses on Bastille’s desserts while also leading Maison Breizh and much of the creative work behind the scenes, including email marketing, social media and special projects.
Both chefs have cooked at the James Beard House in New York City.
In January 2015, Bastille moved to 606 N. Fayette Street where the restaurant was
reimagined and operates today.
Bastille Brasserie & Bar is located at 606 N. Fayette Street in Old Town Alexandria’s Parker-Gray neighborhood, two blocks from the Braddock Road Metro and five blocks from King Street.
Our restaurant includes two dining rooms, an expansive bar and café area, and a large courtyard patio.
