"Welcome to Bastille.  We are an example of a classic French restaurant.  Our cuisine draws its inspiration form the rhythm of the seasons.  At Bastille, we strive to use only local. seasonal and organic produce and meats.  We try to keep our dishes in harmony with the region in which we live and also with an eye on the past.

Bastille is classical, yet progressive.  French cooking, which to us, is the very heart of great cooking has evolved greatly since our grandparents time.  The menus of Bastille offer a wide variety of items to please any palate. We have terrific vegetable dishes (as our produce is brought to us straight form the local farms); we also offer the virtual tour de force of meats and fish.  Fresh Amish chickens, locally raised (both sustainable and humane) pork and beef from local Virginia farms, as well as the best bounty from the sea (often still alive upon arrival at our doors!)

We try to take the French cooking forward by looking at the past.  It is not "fusion" cooking, or any other faddish name that some slick TV producer or magazine writer wants to peddle.
At Bastille, we do classical French cooking.  Of course, this does not mean that you will find Coq au Vin or Duck a l'orange or Gratinee of Oignon Soupe.

What you will find is that our menus reflect the inspiration that those dishes have brought to us.  We use those foundations to further refine and hone our craft.  We are not re-inventing anything, we merely are adapting to the availability of the bounty of the region and the season.  That is Classic French Cooking!

We put every thing from our hearts into each dish every day.  We search for the best local and seasonal ingredients and do everything we can to coax out the maximum flavor while still respecting and retaining the integrity of the ingredient.   That is Classic French Cooking!

It is a lot of hard work, and we do this not for us, but for you. And it's all worth it.

Give yourself a treat, when you've earned one, and come to see us at Bastille!  Classic French cooking with a fresh and modern taste!"
